Art has been used by people throughout history as a way to say what words can’t. Every painting, photo and drawing tells a story. With my art, I try to focus both on this story and the aesthetic value of the art. People’s attention is caught with a visual, but I want those viewing my art to dig deeper into the meaning behind it. This year, with my concentration, I’ve been able to tell some stories with my art that I rarely have had the chance to express otherwise.

 

In my art, I like to focus on things rather than people when it comes to still two-dimensional pieces. People are much too complex to capture in a single image. When it comes to video, however, people are a much more interesting subject matter than objects. There’s nothing like the story that can be told using a combination of visual images and audio. Seeing a story unfold in front of you is amazing, especially one that can be taken and perceived in so many directions. This is just one of the reason why I love film so much.

 

As it has often cheesily been said, “Art speaks where words fail.” I truly believe that.
